Award Policy Guidelines for Intro and Opportunity Classes
For 2011
Blue Ribbon

In 2010 Licensed Shows began to offer classes meant to make the competitions more welcoming to a wider range of riders.

Introductory Classes have been added to Licensed shows to offer a chance for beginners to attend. The USDF and USEF do not offer awards or "recognition" at the Introductory Level.

Opportunity Classes have been added to Licensed Shows to allow riders a chance to get a taste of showing in Dressage without having to make a large financial commitment in memberships.

These additional kinds of classes in Licensed shows have required some new policies to be created for the Year-End Awards.

VADA/Nova and VADA Policy:

Both VADA/Nova and VADA state have agreed on the same policy for handling
Intro Level classes and Opportunity classes ridden at Licensed Shows. Other chapters may have made other policies butTrophy
here are the guidelines for VADA/Nova and VADA:

Introductory Classes:

All Introductory Tests, whether earned at schooling shows or licensed shows, are to be submitted as
SCHOOLING show scores.

Intro Test C can be used for a Schooling Show score, but is not required.

Opportunity Classes:

All opportunity class tests (with the exception of Intro) which have been earned at licensed shows are to be
submitted as LICENSED show scores.
