VADA/NOVA WINS THE CHALLENGE SHOW
FOR THE FOURTH STRAIGHT YEAR!!!
The fourth annual VADA/Nova — CDCTA Challenge show took place on a beautiful October day at Judy Grass’s lovely Compass Rose Farm. For those that have never been to this show, it is truly a day filled with great fun and team camaraderie. There are fun team names, costumes (yes, the Dressage Queens rode with crowns on their helmets and wore capes while not on horseback!), good tailgating parties, and lots of spectators cheering on the teams. And since this is a benefit show, all of the profits go to a good cause. This year the beneficiary was the Turner Farm Park, which is a wonderful new equestrian facility being built in Great Falls.
CDCTA hosted the challenge this year, and they put on a wonderful show. Show managers Ann deMatteo and Barbara Zulick, secretary Janet Boots, and all of the volunteers did a great job of making the day run smoothly. All participants got a great T-shirt, and free lunch was provided for all. All of the teams got ribbons in a mounted award ceremony, and winning teams got great prizes. Seeing all of the teams gathered at the end of the day, waiting for the final results, with everyone smiling and having fun, is really a neat sight. Makes you wish that every dressage show was this much fun! Each year we encourage new teams to participate in this show, and I guarantee that once you do you will be hooked.
So now the important stuff. Yes, VADA/Nova did win the perpetual trophy again this year. VADA/Nova teams also were champion and reserve champion among the 14 regular teams. While the trophy is looking like it wants a permanent home with VADA/Nova, we can’t rest on our laurels. CDCTA team members have a glint in their eyes, and they want a chance to take the trophy home with them…
